The diversity in Colombia today is thanks to the African Diaspora, The African Diaspora is basically the spread of africans throughout the world. Spain basically took over Colombia and brought slaves there. Even though this happened many years ago doesn't mean it is irrelevant, Many Afro-Colombians still fight for rights to this day. Activism started right once the slaves came off the ship in chains and were worked out. Many Afro-Colombians claim that when they are in cities such as Bogota and Medellín they receive dirty looks. I did a test to see how discrimination is in Colombia, so i looked up "Modelos en Colombia." And only two Afro-Colombians came up.
